2025 Event Update: As Avian Flu concerns remain high in our region, and in conjunction with precautions to minimize risk to the birds at Green Chimneys, we have determined not to hold our annual Birds of Prey Day. We will miss our many friends and supporters who make it such a special event. Birds of Prey Day will resume in 2026 and we hope you will join us then!

Celebrate Green Chimneys’ famous annual tradition dedicated to children, the environment and magnificent birds of prey.

About Green Chimneys

Green Chimneys’ renowned Farm & Wildlife Center is home to over 300 animals, including 50 birds of prey. An Andean condor; numerous hawks, falcons and owls; and several crows are under the care of expert wildlife staff. Spring always brings large numbers of fledgling birds that need care, and the goal is to return them to the wild as soon as possible. The students of the Green Chimneys School have some special needs of their own and through the rehabilitation and care of these animals, they learn compassion, encouragement, and the true meaning of stewardship.

We’re currently hiring:

• Residential Counselor Job Description
  Full-time position with a salary range of $18.35 – $22.84 per hour
• Senior Residential Counselor Job Description
  Full-time position with a salary of $24.41 per hour
• Life Skills Coach  Job Description
  Full-time position with a salary of $24.50 per hour

Salaries are competitive with residential life roles at similar organizations in the greater Putnam County community. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance coverage, tuition reimbursement, student loan reimbursement, and more. List of Employee Benefits

The Hiring Event is a great opportunity for you to:

• observe students and staff in the dorms,
• get a sense of daily schedules and activities,
• and ultimately see if you’d like to explore a career in Residential Life.

During the Hiring Event, and after observing dorm life, you will be invited to proceed with an on-site interview. Interviewing is not mandatory — the choice is yours.

Residential treatment at Green Chimneys is a multi-faceted therapeutic program for children age 6-21.
